Die IFLA in Deutschland
3. IFLA-Presidential Meeting 2009
Access to Knowledge: Networking Libraries
Preparing and providing digital information does not depend on technical equipment alone, it is also influenced by social, moral and political values and norms. The communication and the use of digital information also call for the creation of networks and infrastructures on a global level. The process of transforming digital information into meaningful knowledge therefore relies on building alliances on all kinds of levels and in all kinds of areas.
By providing examples, the relationship of digital knowledge and cultural heritage as well as the influence on higher education will be discussed. International contributors from libraries, academia and politics and various Islamic countries will focus on the role of libraries within the network of research, education, society and state.
You will find the program here.
